Badge for Scouts and Camping Communities
We produce rank and skill badges, camp mementos, troop and unit badges for scout uniforms. The birthplace of patch culture is scouting; we produce in line with this tradition.
1. Types of badges in scouting
| Unit and troop badge | It is the identity of the group, the same for everyone, and does not change for years. Single design, high quantity. |
|---|---|
| Rank badge | Indicates the level of the scout; there are a limited number of different designs and it is renewed each period. |
| Skill badge | Shows the competency gained. It means many small designs; generally produced in sizes of 5–6 cm. |
| Camp memento badge | Unique to each camp, bearing the date and location. Given to everyone participating, this is the most vibrant item. |
| Event and gathering badge | Produced for district camps, hikes and joint events. |
2. The culture of exchange and quantity planning
In scouting, badges are not just worn; they are exchanged. At camps and gatherings, groups exchange badges with one another; this is one of the oldest habits of scouting.
The counterpart on the ordering side is this: the number of badges is not sufficient for the number of participants. It is necessary to add a reasonable share for exchange. Since the unit price decreases with quantity, producing extra is usually cheaper than placing a second order later. Let’s also remind that the second order must have at least 10 pieces and wait for its own production time.
3. Application to the uniform
In scout uniforms, the tradition is sewing; badges are sewn at specific places in a certain order. Therefore, most orders come without Velcro: they are directly sewn with a transfer printed backing, lie flat and the unit cost is significantly lower.
However, Velcro options are preferred for camp memento badges and those produced for exchange; they can be attached to a bag, a camping blanket, or a separate badge panel and easily changed.
| Uniform badges | No Velcro — sewn, permanent, economical |
|---|---|
| Camp and exchange badges | With Velcro — attached, removed, portable |
4. Washing and durability
The scout uniform is used in camp conditions and is washed frequently. The embroidery badge becomes dull over time and peels at the edge; the surface of the TPU badge is sealed, it does not absorb water, does not fade and maintains its shape. If it gets dirty, it can be wiped with a damp cloth.
The only maintenance required is to avoid high temperatures and bleach.
5. Size selection
| Size | Where it is used |
|---|---|
| 5–6 cm | Skill badges, rank badges, small age group uniforms |
| 7 cm | Unit and troop badge, camp memento badge |
| 8–9 cm | Backpack, camping equipment, large event badges |
The size is the longest edge of the badge. Since skill badges are aligned side by side on the uniform, maintaining a small and consistent size gives a more organised appearance.
6. Season and planning
The intensity in scouting is during summer camps. For the camp badge to arrive in time, the design needs to be finalised in the spring months, and the order should be placed at least a few weeks before the camp date.
Production time is 3 working days, plus shipping time. If the camp date is known, counting backwards and setting a comfortable date is the healthiest approach.
7. Price
The unit price for the preferred non-Velcro option in uniform badges: $3.61 for 10 pieces, {{birim_cirtsiz_50}} for 50 pieces, $1.81 for 100 pieces, $1.44 for 250 pieces. Prices include VAT.

8. Frequently asked questions
Is each of the skill badges counted as a separate design?
Yes, each different visual is a separate item and discount applies based on the quantity of each item. Therefore, the total cost for a large number of skill badges is higher than for the same quantity of a single design.
How many camp badges should we order?
We recommend adding an exchange share on top of the number of participants. How much to add depends on the group's habits; groups participating in crowded gatherings leave more margin.
We don't have a designer, we only have a drawing.
Send it. A vector file is best, but a clear visual is also sufficient as a start; we will let you know what is needed to make it suitable for production.
Can we iron on the badge to be sewn onto the uniform?
Non-Velcro badges can also be applied with an iron. For frequently washed uniforms, we recommend adding stitching along the edge for extra security.
